The Church House - Protestant Academy Baden (Haus der Kirche - Evangelische Akademie Baden) in Bad Herrenalb is an ideal combination of a modern conference venue, educational establishment and a place of Christian spirituality.

The conference venue has 93 rooms, of which, 86 are for single room occupancy and 7 double rooms. All rooms have showers/WC, a desk, TV connection (televisions can be rented at the reception) and telephone. Some rooms also have balconies. 10 function and seminar rooms, as well as conference rooms with a capacity for between 12 to 18 people.
The conference rooms are so equipped, that a wide variety of seating arrangements, to fit your individual requirements, can be arranged. We offer the most up-to-date technical and media equipment required for a conference, e.g. presentation boards, large film screens, ISDN and data video projection.

The conference venue is furnished to meet the needs of our handicapped guests (4 specially equipped rooms). For private functions or parties, we have 3 lounges and a dining area seating up to 150 people, at your disposal.

The house chapel, designed by the Stuttgarter artist, Professor B. Hewel, provides you with a place for reflection and prayer. Our Peace and Tranquility room is the perfect retreat for meditation groups. The conference venue offers, not only room for regeneration and relaxation, but also sport and fitness activities. Our house complex is surrounded by lawns and terraces for your individual use. We take special consideration in selecting a well balanced variety of nutritional meals. For the preparation of special meal requirements is our kitchen, of course, at your disposal.

The modern equipped conference centre, Haus der Kirche - Evangelische Akademie Baden also extends is conference facilities to various companies and societies, e. g. universities, industrial concerns and private clubs, who regularly make use of our services for their congresses and seminars. The conference centre team is only too happy to help you organize and run your function and even arrange a support program.

For your larger functions, we can also arrange alternative accommodation in comfortable guest houses nearby. Our house is situated in the beautiful Black Forest region and there are many woodland and keep fit trails explore. The thermal spa and many sport and leisure activities, offered in Bad Herrenalb, are all within good walking distance. Our house is of course the perfect venue for singles or groups, looking for some peace and quiet in a relaxing atmosphere, surrounded by friendly and helpful personnel, ready to serve all your requirements.

The Protestant Academy Baden is an institution associated with the Evangelist regional church society in Baden. It was founded in 1947 and considers itself to be an open community centre for liberal opinions and free speech for various groups and societies. The Academy has been meeting in the church house since 1950. It arranges conferences etc. under the varied themes of law, politics, medicine, ideology, culture, agriculture, spirituality, working profession, economics, technology, ecology, Christian-Jewish dialogue as well as discussions on sports and ethics. A few specific conferences will be documented in the academy`s publications. Within the German republic, 16 similar academies have joined together to form the Protestant Academies in Germany (EAD) e.V.
The different academies work and cooperate with other church centres and conference venues in Europe and with the World Council of Churches. They are part of a world wide Christian layman`s movement with diversified contacts to other continents and their active institutions.

The well known spa town Bad Herrenalb, with its healthy climate (550 m) was founded around 1150 with the establishment of a Cisterian monastery, in the Alb valley.The remaining ruins of its church, the so-called „paradise“ are worth a visit. The ideal setting between seven small valleys with ist Black Forest pines and meadow lands is a walker`s paradise.

With public transport:
ICE to Karlsruhe, then with the local tram S1 from Karlsruhe main station to Bad Herrenalb via Ettlingen, every hour between 6 and 24 hours. Another possibility is by bus from Pforzheim, Baden Baden or Wildbad / Calw. From Bad Herrenalb station it takes approximately 10 minutes by foot or by taxi.

By car:
From the south over the A 5 Freiburg/Basel/Strasbourg or the A 8 from Munich/Ulm/ Konstanz/Stuttgart or by the A 5/A 61 Mannheim/Frankfurt/Koblenz, then take the exit Ettlingen/Bad Herrenalb. From Karlsruhe via Ettlingen through the Alb valley to Bad Herrenalb. In the town centre, left direction Dobel/Pforzheim. Past the Catholic church on the left hand side and follow the road another 100 yards. The Haus der Kirche - Evangelische Akademie Baden is on the left hand side.
From Pforzheim/Calw via Dobel and from Baden Baden via Gernsbach/Loffenau to Herrenalb. There are car parks above the conference venue on the right hand side.
